“Touchdowns For Kids With Keenan Allen & Andre Reed” online fundraising campaign invites fans to help make a positive difference in the lives of kids by making a pledge for every Chargers touchdown made during the 2016 season. All proceeds will go to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater San Diego (BGCGSD).
The campaign had to be re-branded after Allen suffered a season-ending knee injury in the first game of the season against the Kansas City Chiefs. Fans will now pledge for each Chargers’ touchdown scored during the season. Previously, fans were making a pledge for each catch Allen made. A fan who pledges $300 or more will receive an invitation for two to a private Monday Night Football Watch Party with Allen, Andre Reed and several Charger players on October 24.
Andre Reed, who was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2014,has joined Allen in promoting the campaign. He is familiar with the BGCGSD as he took part in the Clubs’ Jon Jay BaseBOWL Celebrity Bowling Tournament in August. "It's my honor to help the Boys & Girls Club in any way possible because I grew up in that organization. They built the foundation that helped me become the football player I am. When I heard Keenan and the Chargers were helping the local clubs in San Diego it was a no-brainer to be involved. I have dedicated my legacy now to inspiring and supporting the youth at clubs in San Diego and nationwide."

“Many of the children who attend our Clubs face tremendous challenges in their day to day lives,” stated BGCGSD President/CEO Danny Sherlock. “Last year we gave out over $681,000 in scholarships to families in need. We are grateful to Keenan for selecting to support the Club and our scholarship program through this campaign. Even if Keenan cannot help his team to victory, he is helping San Diego’s youth and CHANGING LIVES.”
