S.T.E.M. is an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
OUR S.T.E.M. PROGRAM
This program helps youth gain the skills and interest required to fulfill today's growing industries and tomorrow's high demand of skilled individuals in these fields. This program gives young people -- many of whom have lost interest or aptitude in S.T.E.M. subjects -- a renewed passion for these fields through hand-on involvement that facilitate the learning process, helping increase their academic proficiency and sparking a lifelong interest in S.T.E.M.-related disciplines.
The program began at our Roberts Family Branch and has since expanded to four additional sites:
The Dragons, hosted at the Linda Vista Teen Center, are a competitive robotics team. Established in 2013, the team has competed and placed well in regional, national and world championship robotics tournaments.
The Robotech program provides Club members a fun and educational introduction to the field of robotics and its ancillary components of engineering, electronics, mechanics, and software programming.

Hands-on experimental demonstrations and subsequent activities incorporate the scientific method along with other applicable concepts to everyday life.
Club members work together to create stop-motion animation videos. They learn about movie production, character development, storyboarding, design and creation of mini movie sets, and directing, and editing.
The action-packed energy curriculum has been developed for members to learn about changing the culture of consumption, thus preparing youth for "green” ways of life as well as careers of the future.
Club members learn the basics of Marine Biology, as well as a variety of underwater habitats. They also learn the adaptions of fish and climate change and ocean acidification.
