How You Can Help the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater San Diego
Volunteer
Volunteer

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater San Diego provides a variety of opportunities for volunteers, including teens!  We are also happy to work with groups.  A partial list of volunteer needs includes:

With the kids:

  • Day for Kids – September – This is a day for Boys & Girls Clubs to celebrate children and recruit new members.
  • Holiday Parties – December – Come share the joy of the season.
  • Summer Games – August – all of the clubs come together to compete in swimming, basketball and track & field sports.
  • Leadership Camp – teach over 120 middle school youth about important life lessons and how to be a successful professional
  • You Go Girl Track Meet – March – Girls participate in a track and field competition.
  • Boys & Girls Club Week – each Club site has various activities.
  • Ongoing volunteer needs include: Tutors, Chaperones, and Coaches.

To support the after school, day camp and youth sports:

  • Fundraising and special events – support the administrative staff with various tasks or serve on a committee
  • Maintenance – help repair and refresh our facilities

If you are interested in volunteering, please fill out the form below and complete a Volunteer Application (click below for the appropriate application).

Volunteer processing and assignments are managed by each individual location.  Feel free to call or stop by the location that interests you.

General information is also included in the Volunteer Handbook.

Individual Application: Those who wish to volunteer on a regular basis must pass a background check. Volunteers will not be allowed to work with children until the check is complete.  The background check requires the application be filled out completely – including your social security number.

Teen Volunteer Application: Individuals younger than 18 years of age are not old enough to go through the background check.  A limited number of volunteers in this age group are accepted.  The application must be signed by both the teen volunteer and his/her parent.

Group Volunteer Application: Groups who wish to volunteer on a one-time or occasional basis do not need to complete individual volunteer applications.  The group application must be submitted well in advance to ensure there is enough work for the group.  Groups that are flexible with the date they wish to volunteer will have more options for projects.

Please bring the completed application to the location at which you wish to volunteer.

For specific inquiries, please call 760-746-3315 or e-mail volunteer@sdyouth.org.
